What a dermatologist does

A dermatologist is the doctor for skin, hair and nail problems. Typical reasons to book are rashes and itching, acne, psoriasis and eczema, nail fungus, hair loss, or a mole that has changed color or shape. Cosmetic procedures are usually done by a cosmetologist, a child’s rash starts with a pediatrician, and dermatovenereologists, whom people see about sexually transmitted infections, are in this same list. Bring photos of the rash if it comes and goes, and a list of the creams and other products you have already tried.

Frequently asked questions

Dermatologist or cosmetologist — who should I see?

If something has appeared on your skin, hurts, itches or will not go away, start with a dermatologist: they are a doctor and will work out whether it is a medical condition. A cosmetologist does skin care and appearance procedures, and not every cosmetologist is a doctor, so ask the clinic about the training of anyone on the cosmetologists list. Clinics list many dermatologists as cosmetologists too, and this shows on the doctor’s card.

Should I see a dermatologist for psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis?

Yes: psoriasis, eczema and atopic, seborrheic or contact dermatitis are managed by a dermatologist. If the rash and itching start after a particular food, medicine or contact with something, they may also refer you to an allergist. If your joints hurt and swell with psoriasis, tell the dermatologist: joints are a rheumatologist’s area.

Where can I have a skin tag or wart removed?

First show it to a dermatologist: they will examine the growth and tell you whether it can be removed and how. Removal is a separate procedure with its own price on the clinic’s price list, not part of the consultation fee. A mole or spot that changes color, shape or size, bleeds or itches should be shown to a dermatologist without delay.

Is there a pediatric dermatologist?

The Medaro directory does not treat pediatric dermatology as a separate specialty, so it has no list of its own. Call the clinic and give your child’s age — they will tell you whether any of their dermatologists sees children that age. For a rash in a baby, especially with a fever, start with a pediatrician.

Which dermatologists see patients in English or Russian?

Consultation languages are listed for 11 of the 131 dermatologists here: Russian for 11, English for 11. Use the “Consultation language” filter to show only those dermatologists; for the others, ask the clinic which languages they speak.

About this list

This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 131 doctors from 37 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number.

The districts with the most doctors on this list are Kentron (51), Ajapnyak (47), and Arabkir (17). The list includes 83 women and 47 men — you can choose with the “Gender” filter.

Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information

Doctors of related specialties are in the list above. Ask the clinic about the cost of a consultation: some clinics have their price list on their Medaro page.

Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites, and for some doctors from a saved copy of the site or a letter from the clinic; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
