Where these family doctors see patients

What a family doctor does

A family doctor sees patients of any age, adults and children alike, so one doctor can look after the whole family. People come with colds and fever, blood pressure, back or stomach pain, for a check-up, a medical certificate or a referral to a specialist. If you are registered with a GP and your child with a pediatrician, these are the doctors to see for the same things. Take along earlier discharge summaries and test results, your blood pressure diary if you keep one, and, when the visit is for a child, their vaccination record.

Frequently asked questions

How is a family doctor different from a GP and a pediatrician?

By the age of their patients: children under 18 are registered with a pediatrician, adults with a GP, and people of any age with a family doctor. The reasons to visit are the same for all three: new complaints, long-term conditions, prevention and referrals to specialists. A family doctor suits families who want one doctor who knows the history of both the adults and the children.

How do I register with a family doctor or change to another one?

You register in person at the polyclinic: Armenian citizens need a passport and a social or identification card, and children under 16 need a birth certificate and a social card. Yerevan residents can choose a doctor at any polyclinic in the city, unless the doctor’s patient list is full. You can switch to a new doctor at the same or another polyclinic; ask there how often this is allowed. What registration gives you under state insurance: see the State insurance page.

Does a family doctor see children?

Yes: people of any age can register with a family doctor, so a child can see one too. The child’s legal representative, usually a parent, chooses the doctor and registers the child. A child under 18 can also be registered with a pediatrician, and at a private clinic, ask when booking whether a particular family doctor sees children.

In which Yerevan districts do family doctors from this list work?

Most family doctors on this list work in Erebuni (28), Kentron (17), and Nork-Marash (7). If you want the whole family to have a doctor close to home, choose your district in the “District” filter.

Are there family doctors who see patients in Russian or English?

Consultation languages are listed for 20 family doctors on this list: Russian for 20, English for 8. Choose a language in the “Consultation language” filter; for the other doctors the language is simply not listed, so ask the clinic.

About this list

This list covers doctors whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 69 doctors from 18 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such doctors from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.

The list includes 61 women and 2 men — you can choose with the “Gender” filter.

Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information

Doctors of related specialties are in the list above. Ask the clinic about the cost of a consultation: some clinics have their price list on their Medaro page.

Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites, and for some doctors from a saved copy of the site or a letter from the clinic; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
