Who a kinesiotherapist is
A kinesiotherapist is an exercise therapy specialist: they choose exercises for your particular problem, show you how to do them and watch your technique and load during sessions. People come with stiffness and pain in the neck and back, after joint injuries and surgery, with posture problems, or to regain mobility after a long break. Clinics use different titles — kinesiotherapist, kinesitherapist, kinesiologist — and this list has all three. If the pain is sharp or shoots into an arm or leg, see a doctor before the first session, and bring comfortable clothes and sports shoes.
Frequently asked questions
Is a kinesiotherapist a doctor?
As a rule, no: a kinesiotherapist is a specialist in therapeutic exercise. In Armenia, for example, the Armenian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport offers a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (physical therapy). The cause of pain is for a doctor to find — for the neck and back, usually a neurologist — and the kinesiotherapist builds the sessions around that doctor’s conclusions.
How is kinesiotherapy different from massage?
In massage, the specialist’s hands do the work while you lie down and relax. In kinesiotherapy, the effort is mostly yours: you perform the exercises chosen for you, and the specialist corrects your movements and gradually changes the load. For massage, see the directory’s massage therapists.
Which Yerevan districts have kinesiotherapists on this list?
Kinesiotherapists on this list mostly see patients in Nor Nork (7), Erebuni (5), and Arabkir (4). A course usually means several sessions, so use the “District” filter to find a place near home or work.
Which kinesiotherapists hold sessions in Russian or English?
5 kinesiotherapists of 20 have their session languages listed: Russian for 5, English for 2. The “Consultation language” filter shows them; ask the others about the language when booking.
About this list
This list covers specialists whom Yerevan clinics name on their own websites: currently 20 specialists from 6 clinics. The list is incomplete and keeps growing; each card leads to a page with the practice location and the clinic’s phone number. There are no such specialists from other Armenian cities in the directory yet.
The list includes 1 woman and 18 men — you can choose with the “Gender” filter.
Cards where the clinic lists experience, education or a consultation price come first, then the rest. Within each group, cards with a photo come first. This is not a ranking: places in the list are not for sale. How we collect and check information
Doctors of related specialties are in the list above. Ask the clinic about the cost of a consultation: some clinics have their price list on their Medaro page.
Medaro is a directory: we do not make diagnoses or recommend a particular doctor. Information about doctors comes from clinic websites, and for some doctors from a saved copy of the site or a letter from the clinic; before your visit, check the appointment and the cost with the clinic.
